Whereas I was a very naive reader when I started Shiver, not expecting it to captivate me that much and certainly not expecting to be so.. desperate to read the sequels, I'm now much wiser and will act as if my reluctance to read The Scorpio Races is solely based on the fact that I don't want to wait for the second installment, not my fear of being disappointed. Because, really, no one knows that I often find myself hesitating to read books by authors whose books I've enjoyed in the past, or that with Maggie Stiefvater it's even more so the case, because it was the writingstyle and the circumstances of the people's relationships that made me finish the first two books and the exceptionally well-written story of Sam and his 'father' that broke my heart, not the love-story itself..Yes, children, that is the honest truth. (And yep, that was a tautology, plus might also negate the actual meaning by stating the same fact twice..)
