Waking the Witch (Women of the Otherworld, Book 11)

Waking the Witch (Women of the Otherworld, Book 11) - Kelley Armstrong What an awesome novel! 4+ to 4.5 starsHaving read the other books made me feel a bit awkward because I, too, knew the heroine when she was twelve and it's a bit weird to see her as a 21 years old hot not-virgin. No, really. Come on, it IS a bit weird, right? Right? Also, I had to go through Page's parenting horrors and Savannah's pubertry/struggles etc. All of that, I thought, would make it a little hard to see her as a grown woman. But after the first few pages Savannah made sure to be taken seriously. She's a grown woman. Although, yes, she still IS Savannah. And she is so funny, interesting, compley, nice, intriguing and in the middle of finding out who she is, what matters the most to her et cetera. She probably is one of my favorite heroines ever. (We do have some things in common and I love to read about people I can relate to so much. Especially if they're not as afraid as I am to risk something. Or if they go though a tough time and I see how hard it is and that they manage it, though. Okay, it probably is stupid to sit there when you're cat's dying and say: 'Savannah got though it, I will, too!' because, let's face it, she's not real (unfortunately!!) but it still helps.)The plot wasn't what I had expected either. We get three guys. Yes, three. Of course, Adam is one of them. Unfortunately I read Counterfeit Magic AFTER I read Waking the Witch – If you have a choice, first read the novella. I think Adam is one of my favorite heroes, too. He's funny and easy-going, but he also has this serious side and he cares about people. He and Savannah have a great time together. Too bad he apparently doesn't see more in her than a friend. (Admittedly, I'd probably cry my eyes out if there was a guy as great as him and he wouldn't love me back. On the other handside, I'd accept it, because to have him as a friend is worth more than some heartache.. I hope)The other two guys, one the client and one an agent or officer or something, are interesting, too. The client not so much, because we don't really see much of him. But agent/officer (it's been some time since I read the novel, sorry.. What was his name?) was nice. I think if Savannah and he had more time, there might be something.. Although, yes, I am Team Adam.My ever-the-same conclusion: read this series. I feel weird repeating myself so much, but I love it. If you read the books until now and wonder if you should give Savannah a try. YES! She. Is. Awesome. And in a way the books get better. They still have the Armstrong-flavor, but they all have something new added to them. Yet again something I can add to my 'Why I love Kelley Armstrong' sheet: 'Unlike other authors her books keep getting better. She adds new stuff. You don't get the same stuff all the time.'
